About Me
I'm the co-founder of Aleph Education, and the director and owner of Dar Almarifa Language Centre.
Altough my background is in investment and regulation of financial services, I've been involved in education for most of my career.
More recently, I've been focusing on Arabic language acquisition for young learners and the introduction of technology into the language learning process in meaningful and interesting ways.
I have Bachelors degrees in both Finance and Lingustics, and a Master's degree in Linguistics specializing in sociolinguistics.
My brother and I were discussing the need for better Arabic language learning materials in late 2020. We believed (and still do!) that learning should be fun and engaging to be most effective, and that broadly, Arabic materials weren't keeping up with the times.
This was even more true with the steady rise in private school enrolment where most subjects were taught in English. We felt that a new appraoch to recapturing childrens' interest in learning Arabic was needed.
So in March of 2021, we founded Aleph Education to address this need; we'd work on introducing and developing new materials for, and new ways of teaching Arabic. We focused on reading and engagement, which lead us to developing modern, relatable reading materials, and introducing Minecraft Education as a way of building engagement and introducing a more collaborative, creative, and fun way to learn.
From the first day we opened in 1994, teaching English to public school students, we have helped them improve their language proficiency, develop real world skills, and become confident, independent individuals.
Dar Almarifa is focused on providing comprehensive and high quality English language courses, and since 2019 has been authorised by Cambridge Assessment English to provide both Cambridge English Qualifications exams for students, and advanced English language teaching qualifications for teachers.
We also incorporate technology into the learning process, especially our seniors, where they have full access to the suite of Microsoft 365 office apps, Minecraft Education Code Builder, Microsoft's AI Reading Coach, and more.
